"Deconstructed Wine is a painting where winegrowers, wine merchants, wine lovers and wine connoisseurs can find their own story with wine. There are many perspectives one can have of wine. ‘Deconstructed Wine’ shows the long way from the grapevine into the glass. Winemaking is largely a natural process. But to get a great wine the skills and experience of the winemaker makes all the difference. For some people wine is an accompaniment to a good meal, for some, it’s part of socialising and for some, it’s a beautiful science. This is often influenced by cultural background and environment.
The 2000-year-old encaustic medium is my chosen paint medium because I like to challenge the preconceived views of this ancient technique and use it in a contemporary way. I’m doing this by combining this ancient technique with contemporary techniques such as pen drawings, shellac burns and oil paints.
