The figure, tucked safely into a womb-like shape, gently presses a hand, feeling its way, as it floats through air, earth and water, represented by the flowing white lines over the blue-violet background. I made this painting over a period of time when I learned my brother has stage 4 cancer. This painting is for my brother Paul, as he freefalls now through a new sense of his own vulnerability, safe in our love but also alone, as we all are in the end.
